Terms of Service

Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. Do not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

Some features require an account created through an approved sign-in provider. You agree to provide accurate information, maintain the security of your account and device, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account to the extent permitted by law.

Limited License and Acceptable Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use the Devotus application on devices you own or control and to access the Service for personal, noncommercial use.

You may not:

• use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purposes;
• copy, sell, rent, sublicense, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service except as applicable law expressly permits;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code except where such restrictions are prohibited by law;
• circumvent access controls, subscription checks, or security features;
• interfere with the Service or access it using automated means in a way that burdens, damages, or disrupts our systems; or
• infringe the rights of Adam Reece Studios, our licensors, other users, or any third party.

Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

Devotus may offer auto-renewing subscriptions, promotional offers, or free trials. The price, billing period, included features, and any trial terms are shown before you confirm a purchase. Charges are made to the app-store account you use at purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew for the same period unless you cancel before renewal, subject to the rules and notice periods of the applicable app store.

You can manage or cancel an iOS subscription in your Apple App Store account settings and an Android subscription in your Google Play subscription settings. Uninstalling Devotus, signing out, or deleting your Devotus account does not automatically cancel a subscription. After cancellation, paid access generally continues until the end of the current billing period unless the app store or applicable law provides otherwise.

Payments, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and billing disputes are processed by Apple or Google under the terms applicable to your store account. Except where required by law or an app-store policy, subscription charges are nonrefundable. We may change subscription features or pricing prospectively. Any price change will take effect and be communicated as required by the applicable app store and law.

Content and Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, original prayers, commentary, arrangement, and other original materials, is owned by Adam Reece Studios or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. No rights are granted except the limited license expressly stated in these Terms.

Scripture translations, hymns, catechisms, quotations, and other third-party or public-domain materials remain subject to their applicable attribution, public-domain status, or license terms. Availability of particular translations or content may change if required by a rights holder, licensing agreement, or law.

Spiritual and Informational Disclaimer

Devotus is designed as a personal worship and study aid. Its commentary and other content are provided for general devotional and informational purposes. The Service is not a substitute for Scripture, the ministry of a local church, pastoral counsel, professional counseling, medical care, legal advice, or other professional services. You remain responsible for how you use and interpret the content.

Privacy and Third-Party Services

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Service and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The Service may depend on or link to third-party services, including Apple, Google, Supabase, RevenueCat, Sentry, and external content providers. Those services may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content that we do not control, and their availability does not imply our endorsement.

Availability, Changes, and Updates

We may update, improve, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including particular content, features, or integrations. We do not guarantee that every feature or item of content will always be available. You may need to install updates to continue using the Service. Where required, we will provide reasonable notice of material changes that adversely affect a paid subscription.

Termination and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may request deletion of your account as described in our Account and Data Deletion instructions. Account deletion does not cancel an active app-store subscription.

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, fail to pay applicable charges, or if suspension is required by law or a platform provider. Upon termination, the license granted to you ends, but provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions.

Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. ADAM REECE STUDIOS DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the exclusions above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ADAM REECE STUDIOS AND ITS MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR US$50. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Adam Reece Studios LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts with jurisdiction over Adam Reece Studios LLC will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally.

Additional App-Store Terms

Apple. If you downloaded Devotus from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Adam Reece Studios, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the application, its content, maintenance, support, warranties, or claims relating to the application. Your license is limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and applicable Usage Rules, including use through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where permitted. If the application fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, as required by its policies; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Adam Reece Studios, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the application, including product-liability, legal-compliance, and intellectual-property claims. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not listed on a U.S. Government prohibited- or restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the Apple-specific provisions against you.

Google Play. If you downloaded Devotus from Google Play, Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the application or its support. Your use of Google Play and purchases made through it are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and other terms applicable to your Google account.

General Terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post revised Terms here, update the effective date, and provide additional notice when required. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
